Welcoming Spring in Skagit Valley

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is a family destination. There is always something for everyone at any age. Now on its 33rd year, Mount Vernon is once again the center of a county-wide celebration of flowers, arts and crafts, food and fun activities. April is when tulips by the millions bloom in all their splendor; the explosion of their colors bring together all other events in the valley. You can meet with the growers and order bulbs, buy your favorite colors and learn a thing or two about these blooms. Visit the garden shows and have a field day taking pictures.

The fest is not just about the famous tulips, but which also includes fun and entertainment, shopping and dining galore the whole month of April. The festival is a driving tour, events are spaced miles apart. Stroll among hundreds of new and returning arts & crafts vendors from six states and also from British Columbia, for the best art, photography, jewelry, clothing, gourmet food, unique gifts, and delicious food court offerings.

The Mount Vernon Downtown Association organizes the yearly festival and lines up different events happening everywhere and every day of the month. For 2017, the events are impressive: art exhibits, a wine fest, a quilt walk, scrapbook swapping, garage sale for antiques and another for kids, a salmon barbeque, a spiritual songs concert, used book sale, a wood fest. There’ll be parties, parades, runs, art shows and galleries, business-to-business trade shows.

And there’s a Street Fair, open Friday and Saturday only (April 21 to 23) in South First Street, Downtown Mount Vernon. Don’t miss it! Live music plays all day, there’ll be street entertainers and unique artisan demonstrations. There’s no other entertainment like this!
